How to promise results without overpromising

And the winner of our poll is…..
Overpromising!
👇
sending too many emails was a close (and related) second!
Reader, I’m actually so delighted this topic won because it keeps coming up in conversations this year…
which makes so much sense!
Most of us have bought courses, workshops, or programs over the last ~6 years that we didn't actually get results from... 😬
And after seeing that happen enough times, it’s easy to swing too far in the other direction.
I know a creative entrepreneur is overcorrecting when they say things like:
“But I can’t guarantee that result.” (Of course not, but I can show you how to be clear about that and still compelling).
“But there are so many different possible outcomes of working with me.” (Good! Get specific about the range.)
“Can’t I keep it vague and let them imagine their own outcome?” (I mean, you can… but that’s asking a lot of your people when they're already carrying a lot).
The real belief under all of those is a tricky one:
If I don’t promise much, I can’t let anyone down... right?
🎯
The problem is, people won't buy vague promises.
(Nor should they).
Even if they like and trust you.
So we agree! You must be specific about the outcome of your offer.
Now the question is:
How do you talk clearly and compellingly about what’s possible without promising something you can’t actually guarantee? 😱
Well, that's what we'll be talking about, right here, next week.
I'll be putting together a series of THREE email lessons (with videos!) to help you discover and write about your promise in a way that gets people excited to buying your thing... without being icky.
Those emails will go out on June 9th, 10th, and 11th.
And they will be 100% free (as my birthday gift to you).
Want to make sure you get them? Great! You're in the right place.
All you have to do is check your inbox on June 9th. :)
Can't wait to share this with you. ❤️
xo,
Nicole
P.S.
Today's my 40th birthday!
Which means I'm near the beach with a bloody mary about now! So if you send questions my way,
(which I hope you do! Especially about promising outcomes. It'll help me create the best content for you)
