I’ve always thought of Taurus season as the start of “my” season…
Taurus 🌙 → Gemini ☀️ → Cancer 🌅
And this year’s a poignant one…
because, Reader, I’m turning 40 in June...
Yesterday, I chatted with a receptionist (gotta re-up that 🌿 prescription)… and after giving her my birthday, she exclaimed:
“I was also born in June 1986!! How are you feeling?! It’s a big one for us!”
But honestly, the more I think about it, the more positive I feel.
As someone who's always looked a lot younger than I am (hated getting that kids menu at 18...),
I guess I'm feeling eager to lean into my eccentric aunt era. :)
I think part of why I feel good is,
I’m noticing how much less I second-guess myself.
Over the past decade, I've learned:
WHO I want to work with: creative business owners who care deeply about the product they put into the world.
HOW I want to work: I want to teach! So that my clients understand why the words are working... and how they can repeat it in the future.
WHAT I want to accomplish: helping the business owners I adore make steady money from their work... using the very real magic of words.
So, bring on 40. :)
One great sentence
Here's a sentence (or two) that sang for me this week. I hope it does the same for you.
“Every day I see or hear something that more or less kills me with delight, that leaves me like a needle in the haystack of light.”
- Mary Oliver, the master of observation herself. From the poem: “Mindful”
Your marketing prompt
Let's get inspired by that Mary Oliver quote!
What’s something you noticed today? One wisp of cloud, one conversation.
How can you use that as an entry into a story?
How can you pivot that story to your work?
FWIW - this is my favorite way to write.

P.S. Feeling pretty good about 40...
now I just have to decide how big I want to celebrate.
(Open to suggestions!).
